Martinsburg City Council At Large

July 28, 2020

Candidate For Martinsburg City Council At Large

Martinsburg is an amazing place to live and work, but it can be better.
My plan is comprehensive and centered on increasing property values and driving down the crime rate.

First - Everything is going to be ok. We will be back to normal very soon.

Second - Martinsburg has all the ingredients to be a National Tourist Destination. History, Culture, Architecture and best of all - beautiful, natural wonders. The promotion of our City is a primary duty of the City Council and will be a priority for me.

Third - Poor quality enforcement on out of state owned rental properties has a terrible impact on homeowners and renters alike. I’ll fight to reign in these offenders and hold them accountable.

Fourth - I’ll support the new police chief and the MPD’s effort to close down drug houses in the city. This effort along with rental enforcement is the #1 way to drive up property values and drive down crime rate.

Fifth - I’ll lead the charge to capitalize on Opportunity Zones and Renovation Tax Credits so Martinsburg can continue to be the very best city in the state of West Virginia.

Finally - I’ll give my most precious resource - my time and experience as a business owner in the City of Martinsburg.

Vote for me on July 28th as your next Martinsburg City Councilman At Large.

A Little About Me

I met the woman of my dreams, Martinsburg native, Lesley Robinson, while working for Marriott Corp in Charleston WV. Lesley and I were married in December of 1991 and our first child Ana, was born in 1993. Our 2 sons followed in 1995 and 2000. All three were born in right here at City Hospital. After my move to Martinsburg 29 years ago, I started work at The Sheraton Hotel for Bruce Van Wyke. My career then took me into banking with One Valley Bank where I became a loan officer. My next move was a Vice President position with National City Mortgage where I spent 20 years as a top producing Branch Manager. Joining my wife in 2012 as The Lopez Team, I began my second act with ERA Liberty Realty. Over the years, I owned many rental properties in the city. 2016 brought another opportunity for my wife Lesley and I as we started an Airbnb business as operators/consultants.

Somewhere in-between we managed to raise our three amazing kids, started a performance production company and hosted a daily radio show on WEPM. All three of my kids graduated from Martinsburg High School. Ana went on to Shepherd University and is now a professional Photographer, Christian is a nationally known touring musician and Kennedy is a frustrated drummer stuck at home as Covid-19 has canceled his winter and spring drum camps.

Now I have the most successful Airbnb concern in the city and a growing and vibrant Real Estate group with The Lopez Team. My wife and I Co-Host a weekly radio show on WRNR called 100% Real with Lesley and Jamie. The show is streamed live on Facebook and can be found as a Podcast on Spotify, RadioPublic, Google Play, Sticther or wherever you listen to Podcasts.
